Malibu Real Estate

Malibu is one of the most affluent cities in Los Angeles County and home to some of the most beautiful real estate and views. The area is renowned for its twenty-one mile long strip of Pacific Ocean coastline. This star-studded community is as famous for its celebrities as it is for its warm, sandy beaches. Not only do many famous celebrities call this community home, but others in the entertainment industry do as well. It provides a vacation-like atmosphere while still remaining close to Hollywood and Los Angeles. Most of the current residents live along the iconic Pacific Coast Highway, though some choose to live in the areas away from the beach in the canyons of the Santa Monica Mountains. Buyers interested in purchasing a Malibu beach house or other premium real estate can rely on Linda May Properties.

A Beach Lifestyle

Malibu lends itself well to individuals who prefer a relaxed lifestyle. Nicknamed the “Bu” by the local surfers, this area attracts diverse residents while maintaining a classy, beach atmosphere. There are many beaches in the area, including Surfrider, Malibu, Zuma, Point Dume, Topanga, and Dan Blocker beaches. There are also many parks in the area including Trancas Canyon Park, Las Flores Creek Park, and Legacy Park. Current residents enjoy living in their luxurious homes while being surrounded by the natural beauty of the nearby beaches and parks. The neighboring Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach has the most pristine beaches including El Pescador, La Piedra, and El Matador. These beaches are preserved so that they never lose their beauty to excessive tourism or home development.

Education

Malibu luxury real estate is zoned into the Santa Monica Unified School District and three elementary schools that take children from kindergarten to fifth grade and one high school that provides for the secondary public education for the area. The schools include John L. Webster Elementary located in central Malibu, Juan Cabrillo Elementary located in northwestern Malibu’s Park district, Pointe Dume Elementary located in northwestern Malibu’s Pointe Dume district and Malibu High located in the northwestern Malibu. There are also five private schools in the area. They include Calmont, Our Lady of Malibu, Colin McEwen High School, New Roads, and St. Aiden’s School. Pepperdine University, a private college affiliated with the Church of Christ, is located in central Malibu. And Santa Monica College also serves the area, which is a community college in the neighboring city of Santa Monica.

Life in Malibu

Current residents enjoy the thriving culture of the area. There are many art events and locations including the Getty Villa, which is located in the adjacent neighborhood of Pacific Palisades. This museum has various collections of antiques, sculptures, art pieces, and cultural artifacts from regions such as Greece, Rome, and Etruria that attract many residents and tourists. The region also benefits from the Malibu Art Association, which is a non-profit organization that seeks to growth the art culture of the area. In the community, this association produces shows, demonstrations, and workshops for the members of the association. There are also public art displays throughout the community.

Owners of Malibu luxury homes can also participate in country, beach, and garden clubs. One of the features of the Malibu Garden Club is that there is an annual tour of some of the private and residential gardens of the area. Another benefit of living in this community is that the homes are more secluded than those in the Los Angeles area. Chartered buses of tourists are rarely seen in the area, and the residents enjoy the isolation reminiscent of a vacation getaway. There are also many popular shopping centers convenient to most Malibu real estate, such as the Malibu Civic Center, the Malibu Country Mart, the Pointe Dume Plaza, and the Malibu Lumberyard. There are also many seasonal events that current residents enjoy including an arts festival put on by the Chamber of Commerce, an international film festival, a chili cook-off, the Nautica Triathlon, the Polar Plunge at Zuma Beach, and the Malibu International Marathon.
