Behind the Gates: Kappe House

In 1967, Ray Kappe built this treehouse-like home for his family in the Pacific Palisades. The biggest challenge was the hillside lot and creek; instead of tucking the home into the hill, he used several concrete towers to hold up several levels of wooden platforms, preserving the site’s beautiful surroundings.
