MALIBU — The Malibu oceanfront estate that the late TV host Johnny Carson called home for nearly 20 years is up for sale for the first time in a decade — for $81.5 million.

Designed by architect Ed Niles in 1978, the estate is located on about four prime acres of manicured grounds and occupies a commanding vantage point on the bluffs of Point Dume, according to Coldwell Banker Global Luxury and Hilton & Hyland, which share the listing.

The home is located at 6962 Wildlife Road, near Little Dume Beach and Point Dume on the Malibu coast.

Features include a cascading waterfall, Koi pond and saltwater pool, a guest house, gym, locker room, championship tennis court and a viewing area where Carson is known to have enjoyed countless matches.

The owners of the estate, Sidney and Caroline Kimmel, purchased the property in 2007. Kimmel is the founder of Jones Apparel Group and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, which has produced such films as “The Kite Runner,” “United 93,” “Lars and the Real Girl,” “Moneyball” and “Hell or High Water.”
